St Wilfrid (or to give him his proper title at the time – Bishop Wilfrith) brought his Christian Mission to the Meon Valley between 681 and 686AD. We started the day with light breezes at Old Winchester Hill in the north of the Meon Valley. Our goal was to capture the panorama 100m+ off the ground. What is being called the ‘hottest day this year’ did mean we had a heat haze on the horizon but we still could see the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth in the distance. We also flew over the Iron Age Hill Fort and along the earthworks where the defensive wall would have stood.
The day started with an 8.30am shoot on Butser Hill. We had chosen this time as the winds are usually lighter earlier and later in the day. It was a lovely sunny morning with little wind. We captured some lovely shots in a high rise and 360 degree slow pan.
The day started at 8.30am at Titchfield Abbey to try and minimise the risk of too much wind.
The video shoot for our client – the Saxons in the Meon Valley starts July 1st 2014 – but has been in planning for a number of months.
