Colin Knight
Colin is a successful, energetic and pragmatic "hands-on" business leader experienced in developing small and medium sized businesses from concept to delivery. He has a proven record of innovative and creative contribution in business strategy, product development and delivery, holding senior appointments in the Computer and Telephony market place, working extensively across Europe, Asia Pacific and North America.
He believes that in business people should enjoy their roles and get fun out of them, as humour reaches out to people and makes the workplace a happier and more creative environment. Also, that a business has a responsibility to people, the local community and society at large in the way it conducts its affairs.
A passion for quality and enthusiasm are obligatory, he endeavours to infect everyone with it, and get it into the bloodstream of the business, creating a "can do "attitude.
Colin is currently President & CEO for IPC Information Systems - Europe: a leader in the supply of business-critical communications solutions serving the global Financial Trading and Command Systems markets. He joined the company in 2002 from mmO2 Ltd. (formerly Genie-Internet.com), a British Telecommunications Mobile Internet provider, where he was Vice President - Operations.
Prior to that, Colin spent 15 years with British Telecommunications, in several managerial roles including Deputy-Managing Director of a BT subsidiary where he was responsible for all aspects of the Financial Trading Systems business.
Before his career in Telecoms, he was General Manager of APT Electronics - Unitech Group and European Technical Support Manager for Business Computers Ltd. .
He studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Kings Lynn Technical College and London's Southall Technical College and is a member of the Institute of Directors, Chartered Institute of Management and the Institute of Operations Management.
Married with two children, both working in Information Technology, he lives in Berkshire and has a manic interest in cars and motoring.
