No professional business with a reputation to maintain dares to stray outside the law, but sometimes ignorance causes people to sail close to the wind.  So it was this week when a training company asked us to assemble some material for them including extracts from a DVD from another provider, a nice little clip from YouTube, and of course the usual ‘May the Force be with you’ extract from StarWars.  Ignorant? Naive? Or just expecting that we would do anything to turn a penny.  I should point out that this came from an ethical company – so ‘ignorance’ was clearly the explanation.

But still, what would you have done?  Well, they got their DVDs back by return of post with an apology, pointing out that not only would it have been illegal but it would also produce a fairly poor result, doing them (and us) no good at all.   Still – we all hate to turn work away!
