If you want to ensure your next event is a success, with lots of attendees, it is always good to share how well the previous events went. This is where video is a perfect medium to use. A video captures the action so others can share the moment. There is no need to say ‘you should have been there’ as everyone can experience the sights, sounds and activities for themselves on the day. For those who did attend it’s a great way to keep the memories alive so encouraging previous visitors to attend again.
We have worked with Beaulieu Enterprises for a number of years now. One of our regular projects is to capture the sounds, sights and action on offer during their annual event schedule and produce a series of promotional videos for them to use for marketing. They always have a packed annual schedule which starts in the Spring and lasts until November. We usually cover 8 – 10 events a year and in this instance it was the turn of the Beaulieu Hot Rod and Custom Drive In. The video was to be used on the Beaulieu website to both showcase the rest of the events that year and also promote the same event in the following years.
As usual our brief was simple – capture the richness and variety of the event so others can appreciate it. We arrived early so we could film the arrival and parking of the Hot Rods and Custom Cars that would be on display. We then filmed the event being opened to the public and the crowds starting to wander around the vehicles. During the day we interviewed a wide range of people – the families, the Hot Rod and Custom Car owners and the trade stand exhibitors – so we could capture a complete range of personal experiences of the event.
Having selected a few minutes from literally hours of ‘rushes’ we added the necessary captions and music. Once done we transferred the video for the Beaulieu marketing team to review and upload onto their YouTube channel. As we only use abstracts of an interview for the promotional video we always have lots of great footage left so we produce a series of ‘Out & About’ specials which either Beaulieu or ourselves host on our respective web sites.
To help maximise traffic to the web site we always Tweet and blog about the event before, during and after the event. Over the last few years over 75,000 people have viewed the videos and so played their part in helping Beaulieu grow their event numbers.
