Fly To The Past Family Fun Day – 2012 dates announced

Last year we were asked to help promote the Fly To The Past event at Oxford Airport and we are delighted to have been invited back to help again this year.   Due to it’s popularity, this year’s event will be held over two days at Oxford Airport on 1st & 2nd September 2012.  Ticket details and more information can be found on the Fly To The Past website here.

Prior to the event Focus arranged a series of audio interviews with the pilots, organisers and ground exhibitors so the public could learn more about the people involved, and the aircraft they own and fly.

You can listen to the audio interviews here on the Fly To The Past blog.  These interviews were produced in the weeks before the event when planning and preparation for the show was underway.

Focus filmed a variety of interviews at the event.

An interview with pilot, Alex Smee, who was flying the Bücker Jungmeister (see above) is available on the video interview section of the The Fly To The Past blog – here

Alex talked about the Jungmeister and how it’s wonderful performance and flying characteristics helped ensure it was the trainer of choice by the German Luftwaffe in the mid 1930′s.  He also tells us about his aerobatic routine in the near 80 year old Jungmeister, and how he uses smoke to help the audience follow the plane.
