Queens Diamond Jubilee 2012

We were recently contacted by Team-BP, (http://www.team-bp.co.uk/) an online jewellery supplier based in Newbury in Berkshire, to help promote their Union Jack image merchandise. Rather than commission a new video shoot we used already available stills images of products and selected some music that matched the products and the company’s brand positioning.

The whole project was completed in less than a day and the result can be seen here

Fly To The Past – video interviews

Last summer (August 2011) we helped the Fly To The Past event organiser use social media to maximise the numbers of people attending the airshow/family fun day at Oxford Airport. In the end over 10,000 people attended. It was so successful that another event has been planned for 2012 – but this time over two days on September 1st and 2nd.

Before last years event we are able to do a number of phone interviews with the organisers, members of the Oxford Airport team, aircraft pilots and owners as well as a number of the ground exhibitors. You can listen to those interviews at this blog post.

We were also asked to film the event on the day. We are able to meet many of the people we had spoken to over the phone and others besides. We were asked to make the interviews available and also create a short video recording what had happened on the day and use it to help promote this years event. This is the video above. It is also on YouTube and on the FlyToThePast blog site together with all the video interviews we recorded on the day.

The integrated use of audio podcasts, Twitter, blogging and Facebook and now these online and YouTube videos are a great example of how social media can help make an event successful and promote follow up events cost effectively.

Fly To The Past Family Fun Day – 2012 dates announced

Last year we were asked to help promote the Fly To The Past event at Oxford Airport and we are delighted to have been invited back to help again this year.   Due to it’s popularity, this year’s event will be held over two days at Oxford Airport on 1st & 2nd September 2012.  Ticket details and more information can be found on the Fly To The Past website here.

Prior to the event Focus arranged a series of audio interviews with the pilots, organisers and ground exhibitors so the public could learn more about the people involved, and the aircraft they own and fly.

You can listen to the audio interviews here on the Fly To The Past blog.  These interviews were produced in the weeks before the event when planning and preparation for the show was underway.

Focus filmed a variety of interviews at the event.

An interview with pilot, Alex Smee, who was flying the Bücker Jungmeister (see above) is available on the video interview section of the The Fly To The Past blog – here

Alex talked about the Jungmeister and how it’s wonderful performance and flying characteristics helped ensure it was the trainer of choice by the German Luftwaffe in the mid 1930′s.  He also tells us about his aerobatic routine in the near 80 year old Jungmeister, and how he uses smoke to help the audience follow the plane.

For more information on the Jungmeister see http://incomparablejungmeister.weebly.com/index.html
